@Matthew, that assumes that the report contains the date. I'm pulling reports that crosstab tasks with tags, summarized over one week at a time.

Similar to MDCore's comment, I set my timer and go for a meeting -- the timer should not interpret this as idle.

You probably know this, but: On the "edit" page where you see the date surrounded by arrows, you can click on the date to get a popup calendar to choose from. It even shows tips when you move your mouse over the controls. Is this what you ask for, or did you mean this in some other page?

Solution suggestion: By default when starting a task, use whatever tags+comments were used in the last entry for that task. Advantage: A user would only need to update the fields when he wants to change or clear them. Disadvantage: This is a bother for those users that rarely reuse tags+comments, so perhaps make this a per-user setting?

jnicol, I think nrgiser meant that when he takes a call, he switches the timer to a different task. That is different from pausing the active task because you cannot resume the previous task. When you start the previous task (as a new timer entry) you must enter any tags/comments again manually. nrgiser wants this to be remembered so he doesn't have to enter it again.

Isn't this the same as suggestion #24, Provide optional "Is this task still active?" pop-ups? http://slimtimer.usersuggest.com/suggestions/24

Tags as a catch-all heirarchy solution started off as a good idea, but as the site as grown and I’ve learned more about SlimTimer user usage patterns I now see a place for “supertags” or explicitly defining concepts like Project and Billable v Non-billable tasks. I’ll have more on this soon.

The FAQ on http://slimtimer.com/help#faq_tasks states that "The concepts [users, customers, and projects] don't exist here. I don't believe in imposing a rigid hierarchy [...] You determine [details] on an individual task basis. You use tags to create a reporting hierarchy that works for you."

I like your suggestion. I just want to note that there have been hints (I think it was in the blog) that SlimTimer is intended to be a lightweight, project-less tool and that there would come a bigger project-able tool (with a fee).

Do you know that you can just enter four digits? Just entering 1130 works fine!
